New Police Public Information Officer Named

UC º£½ÇÔ­´´ Police Lt. Nader Oweis has assumed the public information officer duties for the police department, replacing Paul Pfotenhauer of the UC º£½ÇÔ­´´ News Service.

Oweis currently oversees the UC º£½ÇÔ­´´ Police Department's campus patrol division and is also a crisis negotiator on the critical incident negotiation team. Promoted last July to lieutenant, Oweis has been with the campus police department since 1994. He was promoted to sergeant in 1999, and in recent years served as a field training officer and supervised the police department's detective's unit. Oweis earned a bachelor's degree in managerial economics from UC º£½ÇÔ­´´ in 1992.

The UC º£½ÇÔ­´´ Police Department is a state police agency that provides patrol, investigative and crime prevention services on the main º£½ÇÔ­´´ campus and at the UC º£½ÇÔ­´´ Medical Center in Sacramento. Its jurisdiction extends to anywhere in the state and specifically to all properties administered by UC º£½ÇÔ­´´. The department includes more than 50 sworn officers.

Pfotenhauer will continue to serve as public information officer for the UC º£½ÇÔ­´´ Fire Department.
