Evening of Classical Music at the Mondavi Center is the second half of the 2010 JAMMIES, a two-day concert series showcasing some of the finest high school musicians from the Sacramento area.
The JAMMIES event, presented by the Sacramento News & Review, is set to begin with Night of Contemporary Music at 8 p.m. March 5 at the Crest Theatre, 1013 K St., Sacramento.
Evening of Classical Music is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 6 in the Mondavi Center’s Jackson Hall, featuring classical and traditional music, including symphonic, jazz, choral and solo performances. The program includes performances by the ԭ High School Baroque Ensemble and cellist Eunghee Cho, also of ԭ High.

The Mondavi Center’s March calendar also includes a concert by the Vienna Boys Choir. The 10- to 14-year-old singers perform works by Austrian composers Mozart, Haydn, Schubert and Bruckner, as well as songs by the Talking Heads, Prince and the Beatles. 8 p.m. March 12, Jackson Hall.

The “lonesome” one is Delano Floyd McCoury, described as a nimble, inventive guitarist and a master of the “high lonesome” vocal style that is the foundation of the bluegrass sound. The Del McCoury Band is set to perform at 8 p.m. March 16 in Jackson Hall. A preperformance lecture by music writer and historian Jon Hartley Fox is set for 7 p.m. in the AGR Room, Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center.
