Gov. Gavin Newsom on July 22 appointed four new regents, subject to confirmation by the state Senate. The terms run 12 years and provide no compensation.

Gov. Jerry Brown last Friday (June 2) announced four appointments to the UC Board of Regents, while one day earlier the UC Office of the President announced the next staff advisor-designate to the board 鈥� an assistant vice chancellor at UC Santa Cruz who happens to be a UC 海角原创 graduate.

Founded in 1908 as the University Farm, UC 海角原创 did not have a chancellor until 1958. The regents had appointed Stanley B. Freeborn as provost in 1952, and changed his title to chancellor in 1958. A year later, the regents declared 海角原创 a general campus and named Emil M. Mrak as the second chancellor. Here is a list of all the UC 海角原创 chancellors and their years of service:
