Regents Committee Approves Emerson Hall Replacement, Hears Update on Campus Housing

The University of California Regents’ Finance and Capital Strategies Committee yesterday (March 14) approved the budget and design for replacement of Emerson Hall, a residence hall at the University of California, ��ԭ��. They also received an overview of UC ��ԭ��’ plans for student housing, including planned projects at Orchard Park and West Village.

The UC ��ԭ�� 2017 Long Range Development Plan, or LRDP, now in preparation, will guide the campus through projected growth in the campus community, the expansion of existing programs and launch of new initiatives — and facilities for them.

The design/build team for the complex was Brown Construction of West Sacramento and Mogavero Architects of Sacramento. The complex is 166,335 gross square feet.

Proposals Sought to Build Housing for More Than 2,700 Students

UC ��ԭ�� is seeking proposals to build housing providing more than 2,775 beds for students with families as well as graduate and transfer students, to open by 2020. The successful proposals will optimize affordability and build community.

Russell Field Housing Dropped from LRDP

Campus planners have removed all proposed student housing from Russell Field, in the latest draft of the 2017 Long-Range Development Plan.

Assistant Vice Chancellor Bob Segar, in charge of Campus Planning and Environmental Stewardship, will provide an informational update to the ��ԭ�� City Council tonight (Dec. 6) with the new proposal, which is reflected in changes made to the Campus Tomorrow website (you may need to refresh the webpage). Ultimately, the UC Board of Regents will consider the LRDP for approval.
